Louisville Rowing Club
A volunteer-run community that has rowed the Ohio River for decades.
The Louisville Rowing Club has been around since the 1980s, and we’ve grown steadily in recent years. Since 2021, we’ve taught over 300 people how to row, and our membership keeps growing.
After a few years on hiatus, our juniors program started back up in the fall of 2021, growing from 8 rowers that year to 45 rowers in 2026. We earned our first Nationals qualification in 2025, and returned in 2026 with three boats competing at the national level. In the fall of 2025 we added a middle school program, expanding the ages we can teach and giving younger athletes a way into the sport with lower commitment and without the stress of traveling to race.
Our masters program has grown over the last few years alongside the rejuvenation of our Learn to Row programs, and now has a steady membership that rows both recreationally and competitively. Most recently, our masters raced at Indy Summer Sprints in June 2026.
Everything we do is powered by volunteers who love the sport. Here’s the team behind the club.

Whether you want to row, volunteer, or cheer us on at the Derby City Head Race, there’s a place for you here.
