Louisville Rowing Club
Your very first time in a boat starts here. No experience needed.
Pick a session and sign up. That’s the fastest way in. New to rowing? Scroll on for what it is and what to expect.
Most people who try rowing have never touched an oar. Our coaches teach you everything from the ground up (the stroke, the equipment, safety, and how a crew moves together), and we provide the boats and oars. You just bring yourself.
The rowing stroke, balance, and how to handle a boat: sculling (two oars) and sweeping (one oar).
Water safety and what to do on the river, with coaches alongside you the whole time.
How a crew rows in sync, and how to cox (steer and call) a boat.
Snug athletic clothes (loose shorts can catch on the seat), a hat, sunscreen, water, and shoes you don’t mind getting a little wet at the dock. That’s it. We’ve got the rest.
No pressure. If you have questions or just want to hear about upcoming sessions, email the coach for your program and we’ll follow up.
