What Is Learn to Row?

Most people who try rowing have never touched an oar. Our coaches teach you everything from the ground up (the stroke, the equipment, safety, and how a crew moves together), and we provide the boats and oars. You just bring yourself.

On-Water Basics

The rowing stroke, balance, and how to handle a boat: sculling (two oars) and sweeping (one oar).

Safety First

Water safety and what to do on the river, with coaches alongside you the whole time.

Teamwork

How a crew rows in sync, and how to cox (steer and call) a boat.

What to Bring

Snug athletic clothes (loose shorts can catch on the seat), a hat, sunscreen, water, and shoes you don’t mind getting a little wet at the dock. That’s it. We’ve got the rest.

How to Sign Up

  1. Pick your session and date in the list above.
  2. Click Sign up to register through SportNgin, our registration system. It only takes a couple of minutes.
  3. Come row. We’ll send everything you need before your first day on the water.
